Make a useful product review

Show the job the product does—and where your evidence stops.

Who this helps: Creators and small-business owners

Bring: Your actual ownership/use notes, original images or clips, and current manufacturer information for any specifications.

Follow the workflow

  1. Choose one viewer decision. “Will this fit the way I cook outside?” is more useful than “Is this the best?” Write the intended use and what you have personally tried.
  2. Separate observations from specifications. Label a measurement you made, a manufacturer claim you checked, and a preference you hold. Do not repeat a sourced claim as if you tested it.
  3. Demonstrate one action in a continuous, readable shot. Show the setup and relevant constraint, such as storage space or cleaning. Do not film an unsafe demonstration just to make the video exciting.
  4. Name a real limitation and who might choose differently. Avoid “everyone needs this.” If the current price matters, check it at publication and identify when it was checked.
  5. End with a decision rule, not a purchase guarantee. Let the viewer compare their situation with yours. Add one next action such as reading the dimensions or seeing the full demonstration.
Worked example · illustrative, not a reported result

Fictional example: “This folding prep table fits beside our cooking area. I like having a separate place for utensils. It still needs a flat spot, and I would measure my storage compartment before buying one.” Shots: unfolded table, utensils, folded table beside a tape measure. No invented weight rating or price.

Before you move on
  • Disclose your actual relationship if relevant.
  • Keep supplied specs distinct from your experience.
  • Show the same item you describe.
Common problem and recovery

If you only have a product page, write a sourced overview—not a first-hand review. Explain that you have not used it.
